attack of sticky balls

This past weekend we went to a fair at the International School. The high school students were putting on different activities to raise money for their summer trips. One high school student is going to Vietnam to work with Aids patients at a hospital. Others are going to Inner Mongolia. There were different games the children could play like pop the balloon and hit the golf bowl with the plastic golf club into the net.

The most interesting one was spit the starch pearl ball onto the guy! There is a drink here in China called pearl tea. It is drunk with a thick straw and as you drink the milky tea, you suck up these chewy starch balls. Well, kids could pay to suck up those balls into the straw and then blow them onto this highschool student who stood there with his arms outstretched waiting to be attacked. It was a popular activity. The student just stood there with these sticky balls hanging onto his shirt. A perfect activity for middle school age boys!

  1. I bet J and B would love that-well, blowing them at the student, not being hit with them!

  3. Oh, yes, I know these starchy balls. Wow, didn't know they started playing games with them. LOL. The bubble tea are quite popular in Chinatowns or even in some Chinese restaurants.

What part of China are you in if you don't mind me asking? I'm Chinese-American living in America.:)
